When I had my fire escape garden in NYC, I knew that it was technically against the fire 码 (but J-walking is illegal too and no one ever gets busted). Now that I’我已经在洛杉矶呆了一年多了’ve been told that a balcony garden is against the fire 码 too.
Last week a building inspector came 通过 and said that it was a fire 码 to have anything on the balcony. I asked what the name of the 码 was, so I could research it. He didn’不知道，但只是说那是一个“open zoning” thing.
我发现很难相信考虑到洛杉矶的人们在阳台上拥有从自行车到烧烤的一切。我打电话给当地的消防部门，而不是只是说好，然后把一切都记下来。如果确实有火灾隐患，我’d want to remove it.
Some of the local firemen were kind enough to come 通过 my apartment to check out the balcony to see 如果它 was indeed a hazard. After inspecting, they said that it wasn’t
My only other guess is that it could be a building safety 码 violation, but the inspector said fire 码.
